A long time between drinks, but City United thirds put on a good display of cricket on Sunday 11th March in the One Day final played at Riverside 2. After winning the toss and electing to bat on flat track, it didnt take long for our openers to make the most of the wicket and conditions and find either side of the boundry ropes with 31 taken from the first 4 overs alone and the tempo set for the rest of our innings with Dave Holzigal middling some big sixes.

The best display of batting in the final belonged to Peter Mead, knocking up a beatiful 124 with shots all around the park who combined with both Dave Holzigal for 51 run partnership and Cory Callcott for a further 88 run partnership for the 3rd and 4th wickets. City was 9/279 after our 50 overs.

With good runs on the board and the extra pressure from cutting off early boundaries the boys set about defending our tally and took a few quick early wickets before eventually knocking over there tail 10/88 after 24 Overs.

Best Batting: Peter Mead 124; David Holzigal 66; Cory Callcott 26
Best Bowling: Dan Mitchel 5/34 off 10 Overs; Glenn Ryan 3/23 off 10 Overs; Trent Balderstone 2/14 off 2 Overs

Man of Match Peter Mead
