City United Season Wrap Up 2011/12

What a big season it has been for the City United Cricket Club, both on and off the field.

Celebrations all around when 3rd Grade took out the One Day Grand Final soundly defeating Bective. And not to mention the mighty 4th Grade side going down to Bective in the grand final of the Two Day Competition in a tough battle fought right to the very end.

Off field, City United has been very active with fundraising activities for both local and national charities.

On 7th January, the 1st grade match between City United and Souths was played under lights on No. 1 Oval. Players wore yellow armbands and gave donations to the “Call to Arms”, an initiative of the Cancer Council of NSW to raise awareness of men’s cancer.

On 18th February, City held a chicken & champagne evening at Cricket House as part of the “Pink Stumps Day” campaign run by the McGrath Foundation. Sponsors gladly donated prizes for a raffle which helped raise valuable funds to assist with placement of breast care nurses.

Finally conducting a raffle to raise funds for the David Rixon Memorial Fund. Cricket NSW kindly donated a bat autographed by the NSW Speed Blitz Blues team of 2011/12. The raffle was drawn at City United’s presentation on 14th April and was won by Terry Kampe.
