That's my mother in law

A few years ago I was so proud of my progress as a batsman and I invited my mother-in-law along to watch me play, hoping to impress her.
At the crease, I turned to the wicket-keeper and said 'I'm anxious to do well and really hoping to hit this ball well today. That's my wife's mother over there.'
'Don't be silly,' said the wicket-keeper. 'You'll never hit her while she is that far away”.

This weekend is the start of the two day matches. You have 80 overs to bat lets use them, best of luck to everyone.
GOOOOOOOO the keeper was right, she was too far away CITY

Last man in

Last Saturday at our 4th grade match, City had just lost its ninth wicket. Paul Lawrence was the last batsman in. Paul usually nominates himself as the batting 12th man., so it was a bit unusual for Paul to be going out to bat. One of his team mates turned and said "Well, Paul is certainly an optimist—he's going out wearing sunblock".  There was a bit of a giggle amongst the players until Paul smacked the first ball he faced to the boundary.
GOOOOOOOOO you got to love your team mates CITY

Fall seven times, stand up eight.

You win some, you lose some, and some get rained out, but you gotta suit up for them all.
Our current 1st Grade captain Dan Whale train as if he were playing a game, he comes to training prepared, he is enthusiastic about all aspects of training and the training he does is quality training.
Training this afternoon at 5pm Riverside 1.
GOOOOOOO If you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat CITY

But it hurt !!

On Saturday I was given out L.B.W. which reminded me of a dismissal of Johnny Miskle a few years ago.
Johnny received a fast ball which struck him in front. Though it was obviously L.B.W. he tried to feign an injury by dancing around in agony. He fell to the ground clutching his foot and the umpire came up and looked down at him.
'Can you walk?' he asked, solicitously.
Still lying on the ground holding his foot Johnny look up to the umpire, hesitated and then replied   'Yes.'
'Then walk back to the pavilion, mate. You're out!'
GOOOOOOOOO love your work Johnny CITY

Where? No 1 oval, What Time? 5.30 til 6.30, What For? Fielding session, Why? Because you need it!!

A true story!

Phil was scoring on Saturday when:
A nervous expectant father rang the hospital to see how his wife was getting on in the labour ward.
By mistake he dialled the number for Phillip Hood our 1st Grade scorer.
"How's it going?" he asked.
"Fine," replied Phil, "We've got two out already and hope to have the rest out before tea. The last one was a duck”.
GOOOOOOO I wish I was there to see his face CITY

Work wanted

A new to town City Player is looking some work. He is keen to try his hand at anything. If you know of any jobs vacancies please contact Dan Whale 0423918389 for further details of the player involved.

It’s on again.

Our first fortnightly fielding training session held last Tuesday at No 1 Oval was such a huge success, that the fortnightly sessions have gone weekly. That’s right, City will be holding a fielding session tomorrow Tuesday from 5.30 till 6.30 at No 1 oval. All are welcome to attend. You might be selected in the team as a batsman or as a bowler but we spend more time throughout a match in the field. Bring your running shoes, your City training singlet, a hat and a drink of water.
GOOOOOOOO let it rip, Chewy CITY

Three wins and one that slipped away.
