Cricket NSW has kindly donated a bat autographed by the NSW Speedblitz Blues cricket squad of 2011/12 to the City United Cricket Club. City United will be running a raffle with all funds raised being donated to the David Rixon Memorial Fund. Tickets are on sale at $2.00 each or 3 for $5.00 and can only be purchased at the Tamworth City Bowling Club in Napier Street, Tamworth. The raffle will be drawn at City United Cricket Club’s presentation on Sat 14 April, 2012. Tamworth City Bowling Club is a major sponsor of the City United Cricket Club.
This all came about from the recent trip that City United won to train with the NSW Speedblitz Blues at the SCG early in March. As part of the prize, the players each received an autographed shirt & cap. Paul Lawrence (City United vice-president) enquired during a conversation with a representative of Cricket NSW about obtaining an additional shirt to raffle for the David Rixon Appeal (David being a local policeman who was tragically killed in the line of duty). Cricket NSW said “that they could go one better” and give us an autographed bat.
City United is very grateful of Cricket NSW for donating the bat in support of such a great cause.
Signatures on bat include Michael Clarke, Doug Bollinger, Brad Haddin, Simon Katich, Brett Lee, Patrick Cummins, Nathan Hauritz, David Warner, Shane Watson and Tamworth’s own Josh Hazlewood.
Should you require any additional information, please contact City United Secretary Nikki Hansen Email or phone 67652501.
