From Lango (somewhere on the Murray River) ...
"Players and their parents are reminded of the club motto 'The Spirit, The Club, The Team, The Player'. It's a heirachy written in descending order of importance which you need to note.
You play for City United aware that you play for the club, not a team. We are not four separate teams playing each week under the same banner, we are a family and just like any family, we are only strong when we put the needs of the family above any group within it or ourselves. If you don't understand that, you are playing your cricket with the wrong people. There are lots of times when I, as Club secretary, wish I was somewhere else rather than attending to one of the less savoury duties of the role but I don't duck because someone once taught me the above motto and I won't let my mates down.
Good luck this weekend to all players, where ever they are playing and regardless of grade.
It's on these hard to staff weekends we have the chance to stand up, so this weekend, stand up tall beside your club mates, taller than you thought you could and be a City Man.
Good luck lads.""
