One of City United’s true characters have left us.

Bobby Hession was City United’s fourth Grade captain over many years, his highlight was winning the 1997 4th Grade Premiership with a number of juniors that went onto play 1st grade for City.
Bobby instilled sportsmanship and  integrity into the many juniors that came to City during that period and gave each player under his leadership an opportunity to excel.
I remember one afternoon when his young opening bowlers didn’t have a good start to the day’s play, with many of their deliveries going to “FOUR” down at fine leg.
I went over to Bobby and said “Do you think we should have a Fine Leg in place?”
Bobby replied “No way!! I am not going to encourage them by placing a fieldsman down there. “
Sure enough Bobby’s patience with his young players paid off and soon they were attacking off stump.
Bobby passed away after a long fight with cancer. Many of City United’s passed players were at his funeral today to show their respect for one of City’s best.
GOOOOOOOOOO rest in peace Bobby, you put up a good fight CITY

It was a time to celebrate.

A big part of City United’s Presentation night was the celebration of our 4th Grade side that won the Minor Premiership and played it way through to the Grand Final. It was an amazing effort from a side that mainly made from parents and their sons.

To celebrate 4thGrade achievements a cake was presented.

This team is not complete without the 4th Grade's scorer/manager

City United's Presentation Night

Nikki Hansen and Kathy Lawrence are City United’s newest Life Members
What a great night, people are still talking about the enjoyable time they had at the City United's Presentation Night. The highlight for me on the night was the two Life Memberships presented to two amazing young women that have done so much for our club over many, many years. I had the pleasure to work closely with both these ladies during that time and I can say this award is richly deserved.

Another season has come to an end.

Another season has come to an end. There are few players who will be retiring, hanging up the pads and putting their cricket whites in the back of the draw for the final time. As it should be, they will be replaced by the next generation of City players. These new players will be eager to play this wonderful game and will begin to write their own story of their time at City.
To the City players who have played their final match. A little farewell song.
Yes he's lookin' kind of jaded
And his sight is not the best
And the hair around his mouth is turnin' grey
He has played quite a few matches
And I think it's only fair
We leave him on the sideline here today
He was born in the sixties
Maybe sixty three or four
Never faltered always seemed to be on hand
Never have I seen him beaten By a batmen in the field
And as a night watchman he was pick of all the land.
So leave him out there in the longyard
Do not pick him Leave him out there with his mate the baldy bay
With his mates that he can chat
with he can laze with
Leave him there as we have turned him out today
Yes he's lookin' kind of jaded
And his sight is not the best
And the hair around his mouth is turnin' grey
He has played quite a few matches
And I think it's only fair
That we leave him on the sideline here today.
GOOOOOOOOO thank you for the memories CITY
