TDCA has a $100 penalty in place for rubbish left behind. Ground swap for 1st and 2nd Grade.

Unlike in Wimbledon there are no Wombles around Tamworth that can make use of the things we leave behind. At the last TDCA meeting all clubs were warned that there is now a $100 penalty for any team that leave rubbish at their ground after the match. So please don't be a tosser, ensure that your ground is left tidy. If there are no rubbish bin please take it with you.

In other news: 1st Grade match is now being played at Chaffey Park, with 2nd Grade now playing at Scully Park.

City's Fourth Grade side is in good hands..

I was down watching the mighty City's 4^th Grade side on Saturday in their successful run chase and their first win of the season. City's 4th Grade side had a mountain of a run chase of 239. At the Minor league fields scoring is never easy with the ball not running over the long grass. Anthony Fitzgerald was scoring and he is now Captaining the side, 
It reminded of the 4th Grade Major Semi-Final match against Old Boys last season. Anthony was facing his third delivery when he advanced down the wicket and took a long stride forward in defence. He was so far down the wicket that he could almost shake the umpire’s hand. There was a half hearten appeal from the bowler, with no other fieldsman joining in to the appeal. To everyone's  amazement the umpire put his finger up and gave Anthony “ÖUT” LBW.
But I was not surprised by Anthony’s reaction, he left the field without showing any frustration and annoyance towards the umpire or opposing players.
Anthony has always played within the spirit of the game, City juniors playing in 4th Grade this season are lucky to have Anthony as their captain. Anthony also knows the game of cricket, his batting technique is up there with the best batsmen we have in the club.
And talking about poor umpiring……………..well that’s cricket and as in life you get some rough decisions go against you. It’s how you react to them, makes you who you are. On a Saturday afternoon you are forever seeing a player throwing a overthrow, dropping a catch, misfield a ball, bowling a wide or no-ball, or playing a bad shot: we all make mistakes even umpires.

The club would like to remind all it's players and supporters to be mindful of what is posted on social media. The Tamworth District Cricket Association has from the start of the season made it an inclusion of the "code of conduct" so any harassment, inappropriate and derogatory comments made towards another player, umpire or official relating to the Tamworth Competition will not be tolerated and could result in action being taken by the TDCA.

Our Timmy Paynter had a wonderful afternoon. In  City's 3rd Grade side he batted at three and was stroking the ball like Micheal Clarke. He then while wicket keeping took a nice catch and then completed what all wicket  keepers dream of a stumping while standing up the a medium pace bowler. During the afternoon he collected as many of his teammates that could fit into his car (yes his on his P's) and took them off to KFC. And returned proudly wearing a KFC bucket hat.      



                                                                                                                                                                 It was a pleasing weekend for City. All Grades preformed well with the "Big Boys" in 1st Grade dominating their match over Wests at No 1 Oval. Seconds played well but come up short in their run chase, while Third Grade's victory continues their unbeaten run in the One-Day competition. City's mighty Fourth Grade side secured their first win of the season chasing down a thousand runs at Riverside 7. 
The Christmas Party was a great hit, with most taking the opportunity to show off the under arm deliveries. A very, very big thank you must go to Nikki and the other ladies that helped out on the night. Our Kathy is on the mend and should be back among us in no time.

Our Christmas Party is set down for this weekend!!!!!

City United Cricket Club will be celebrating Christmas with a BBQ and game of bare-foot bowls at the Tamworth City Bowling Club this Saturday 7 December from 6pm.

All players and their families are invited to come along and celebrate the festive season.
There will be a free BBQ for all.
To help with catering each grade will have a job to do. 
First grade will be required to bring salads; Second grade will need to bring a dessert and Fourth grade will be bringing along the nibbles.  Third grade will be cooking the BBQ.
So come along and join in the festivities.   Everyone is most welcome, so bring along your family, girlfriend, boyfriend and your mum, as you would not want to miss it. See you all there.

With Saturday's match washed out, it brings the first round of the competition to a end. This Saturday City are up against West Tamworth in a One-Dayer. I looked up on My Cricket at the City United figures and was not surprised to see Sean Hancock was leading the way with the most runs scored for the club at this early stage of the season with 184 @ a average of 46 runs, Anthony Fitzgerald has amassed 140 runs @ a average of 70 runs. In the bowling stakes Peter Mead has 11 wickets, Luke Dennis has 10 wickets. 

There is so much of the season yet to be played, enough time for you and our club to shine. Lets continue to train strongly and set personal achievable goals for yourself.
