They were far too good for me.

Neil  (Lillee) Cooke
I was ambushed at training on Sunday. There were good numbers at training on what was a splendid morning.
The better bowlers were all in one net, bowling against potential first and second grade batsmen and giving them all a good workout.I padded up, eyeing up the second net. Thinking to myself “there was more danger of being bowled off the side netting then a straight ball getting through my defences.”

As I walked towards the second net, with a confident stride, a heard a little voice from behind me “excuse me, sir can I go in this net.” I looked around to see one of the many new young faces that have signed up for City this season. His helmet hid his baby face, what could I say but “Sure son, in you go”.
To my horror I got the call to hop into the No 1 net. My confidence quickly left me.
The bowlers smelt blood. Tezza was bowling these unplayable late in-swingers while Neil would then follow up with his unplayable out-swinger. If the club could get both these bowlers playing in the same team, they would be the next Thompson/ Lillee bowling partnership.
After a quarter of an hour of missing and nicking it was time for me to get out of there.

Terry (Tommo) Kampe.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO our own D.K. and Tommo at CITY

Go West this is what we are going to do.

Dunedoo will only be one of the interesting town's we will travel through.
CITY United begins its new season proper with a new skipper and some new faces when it travels out west out past the “Black Stump” to play Dubbo RSL Colts on Sunday the 14th September.
City United will be sending out two strong teams to play the Dubbo teams. Last year the boys from Dubbo won both matches here in Tamworth but City is looking forward to reversing that result this time.
The selected teams will travel to Dubbo in a bus, with more details of this trip as the match gets closer.
I remember I stated “cricket was the winner on the day” after our two sides went down, well bugger that I what the heading to read after the matches “City United was the winner on the day.

PET SHOP BOYS "Go West"
Go West, life is peaceful there
Go West, in the open air
Go West, where the skies are blue
Go West, this is what we'll do

Together, we will go out there
Together, we will play them there
Together, we will bowl them out
Together, we will score some runs
Together, we will show them how it's done

Go West, this is what we'll do, Go West

A little story to finish the week.

We had a power outage at the house this morning and my PC, laptop, TV, DVD,  iPad and my new surround sound music system were all shut down.
Then I discovered that my iPhone battery was flat and to top it off it was raining outside, so I couldn't go out and practice cricket for my City United.
I went into the kitchen to make  a cup of coffee and then I remembered that this also needs power, so I sat and talked with my wife for a few hours.
She seems like a really nice person.
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the things you learn CITY

Building for a big season.

Timmy was hitting the ball very nicely at training on Sunday.  I swear the boy has built up through the off season.

Sunday was a spectacular morning the sun was out, not a cloud in the sky. The first training session of the 2014/15 was a good one. City's training equipment was in full use.
Kathy and Trent had players filling out their Rego and paying their fees.
There is a good vibe within the club as club President Anthony Fitzgerald rally’s the club for what is building as a very exciting and fulfilling season.
City United has a busy preseason ahead, as well as the clubs Sunday morning training City has two trail matches booked in. City will be sending two teams to play Dubbo RSL Colts in Dubbo planned for September, City 1st Grade side has a trail match against Armidale City Cricket Club in Tamworth as well as the TDCA bash For Cash competition, it will ensure it’s a busy time for the club and it's players leading into the start of the competition proper on 11th October.
Training will continue this Sunday Riverside 2 practice nets commencing at 10am til noon.
GOOOOOOO I’m getting excited CITY

A fun morning of Golf.

The United States of America might have the Augusta National golf course and Scotland has St Andrews.  We at City are just as excited about having an opportunity to play on the world class Farrer Memorial course where being in the rough could mean you being in the piggery or poultry shed. City United’s Registration/ Golf morning will be held this Sunday 3 August at Farrer. The school had a 7 hole golf course with tee off at 10am. Golf clubs are available at the school if anyone needs them.  Play will be in teams of 4 (2 seniors/2 new or juniors).  There will be drinks provided and a sausage sizzle at the club house after the rounds.
I have just received these direction to the first TEE. I can assure you this is not a windup, if anyone gets lost e.g. “Sugar” just park and we will come and get you.
Drive to Farrer and enter from O’Briens Lane (closest to Nemingha).
Drive until you reach the balloons near the dairy and turn right.  (if you come to the pool, you have gone too far – turn around and look for the balloons)
Proceed through the paddocks, following the balloons, down to the Golf Course and Clubhouse.
GOODLUCK!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO So come along for a morning of laughter and fun with City’s golf morning CITY
