1^st Grade
Norths were dismissed for a total of 170 in their first innings.  City resumed batting on day 2 at 0/14 and were dismissed for a total of 131 runs in the 49^th over. Best batting:  Scott Hulbert 61 runs; Richie O’Halloran 21 runs; Julian Hulbert 18 runs.
Norths began a second innings and finished the day at 5/102 off 32.3 overs. Best bowling:  Aaron Dennis 2/20 off 5 overs; Jack McVey 1/17 off 8 overs; Jade Thompson 1/18 off 5 overs; Richie O’Halloran 1/3 off 3 balls.
2^nd Grade
City batted first and were dismissed for a total of 162 runs in the 50^th over. Norths resumed batting on day 2 at 3/109 and were dismissed for a total of 323 runs in the 65^th over. Best bowling:  Paul Chalmers 2/85 off 17 overs; Neil Cooke 2/26 off 5.4 overs; Chris Langston 2/45 off 13 overs; Shel Ravi 2/44 off 9 overs; Michael Bellamy 2/9 off 3 overs.
City began batting in their second innings and finished the day at 8/139 off 36 overs. Best batting:  Paul Fisher 28 runs; Neil Cooke 23 runs; Michael Bellamy 20 runs.
3^rd Grade
City declared their innings closed at 5/312 of 47 overs. In reply Norths were dismissed for a total of 44 runs in 25 overs at the end of day 1.
Norths began day 2 batting in their second innings and were dismissed for a total of 130 runs off 50 overs. Best bowling:  Lachie Cooke 7/22 off 10 overs; Glenn Ryan 1/7 off 7 overs; Graeme Schwenke 1/7 off 4 overs; Brett Walsh 1/10 off 5 overs.
City won outright.
4^th Grade
City were dismissed for a total of 305 runs off 79 overs at the end of day 1. Norths began batting on day 2 and were dismissed for a total of 114 runs in the 40^th over. Best bowling:  Eddie Beattie 4/10 off 4.4 overs; Terry Skewes 4/32 off 13 overs; Trent Balderston 1/20 off 6 overs; Tim Skewes 1/7 off 5 overs.
Norths began batting in their second innings and finished the day at 8/157 off 36 overs. Best bowling:  Nick Stacey 3/23 off 7 overs; Terry Skewes 2/18 off 9 overs; Eddie Beattie 2/41 off 6 overs; Trent Balderston 1/16 off 3 overs.
City fell just 2 wickets short of an outright victory but still took points for a win in the first innings.

It's a bit too damp.

Due to the damp conditions there will be no fielding training session today at No 1 oval. Our normal Wednesday training will commence from 5pm at Riverside 2.

Just ran out of time.

City’s 4^th Grade side  “The Little Boys” and the brave Australian team have one thing in common, both teams just ran out of time. Ultimately, the Aussies fell two wickets short of victory. While City's 4th Grade side after piling on over 300 runs the week before needed twenty wickets on Saturday to obtain an outright result.

City fell two wickets short of that total. City's 4th Grade captain said "As a team we put in all day. In the last hour we had to obtain the last couple of wickets needed for the out-right win, I felt like we tried everything in our power -- round the wicket, over the wicket, short balls, pitched-up, spin, fielders all around the bat, even had a leg slip in place -- I thought we had a red-hot crack," Timothy said.
Our 4th Grade side in unbeaten this season and will need to change it's approach to it's game plan a little as all grades now start a run of One-Day cricket.

Pizza Night this Saturday

Our club will be having a Pizza Night back at our major Sponsor the City Bowling Club after Saturday's matches. No matches have been totally won or lost, all are in the balance, lets push hard for all four this weekend.
All you eat, $5 each or $10 a family. There is only one place to be this Saturday night.

Fathers guiding words

An interesting tale was told to me from Saturday’s 4th Grade match. Timothy Skewes the “little boys” Captain had never scored a fifty in his life closest being 49. When he passed his personal milestone the crowd went off. His father also the President was on the side line watching his young fellow score from shots he only could imagine to play. Captivated by what was going on in the middle, our President was un a where that he suddenly was required to bat, “bloody hell” here is an opportunity for him to bat with his son and guild him to his century. As he approached his son and still trying to get dressed he had these inspirational words as they meet “When is the next break, I need to have a leak".  Timothy replied "your hopeless".  Our President then continued "Now listen I am here to use my experience and wisdom to get you to your century. Do as I say and do as I do”
Needless to say our president lasted three balls before his off peg was knocked over. His son went on to make 81.

 Before I go I must give credit to a young player who came to City this season to further his cricket. Daniel Rogers has worked so hard on his keeping and his game this season. He had an accident at work resulting in him breaking his collar bone through that time his still came down to support 2^ndGrade and it was wonderful to see him back on the field last weekend.

That’s right, after a few week spell, City will be holding a fielding session today Tuesday from 5.30 till 6.30 at No 1 oval. All are welcome to attend. Bring your running shoes, your City training singlet, a hat and a drink of water.
