Tamworth City United Women’s team are

forging their own history in the midweek competition being played against four clubs.                                                                                    Game 1With excitement and some nerves the Tamworth City United Women’s team took to Riverside no.4 for the first T20 game in Tamworth.

With Souths and Norths unable to field a side they combined with Old Boys to take on City.
Under the skilful guidance of coach Dr Shel Ravi, City won the toss and elected to bowl.
Mishelle Fealy had the honour of sending down the first delivery in the new competition, and showed good line and length.
Some great fielding from Jennifer Ingall, Rowena Griffith and Sam Howard saw the opposition well contained.
When it came turn to bat, City put on an impressive display and enjoyed their first hit out.
City 5 – 109 defeated Old Boys 7 -99 from 20 years.

 Game 2

Batting first Michelle Fealy and Sam Howard set a good pace for Tamworth City United.
In the spirit of supporting more opportunities a number of City players retired to ensure the entire order had a chance to bat.
 Runs were limited due to difficulties picking the opposition’ s novel bowing actions.
Taking to the field, City showed its class, and while it seemed a little bit of challenge to put the football skills aside there was some fast and accurate catches and returns to the stumps.
South 5-97 defeated City 6-91

Game 3

Sent in to bat, Janice Jackson and Rowena (Bradman) Griffiths set the foundation for the game.
Jackson looked like she was just settling in, when a less than orthodox bowl saw her knock a catch to a waiting fielder.
Again a number of City batters took the option of retiring to ensure the entire order had chance to bat.
Bianca Cousins and Jennifer Ingall looked outstanding both hitting boundaries, while Cat Kruse continues to show massive improvements.
Unfortunately again runs were limited by novel bowling actions.
Taking to the field a new star emerged, in her first game Bec Kenny showed incredible pace, line and length; terrorising the batting side.
Cousins and Howard also showed incredible improvements with the ball both taking a couple of wickets.

The final match of this competition will be played this afternoon from about 5pm at Riverside 5. Everyone is welcome to come and support our ladies in their final match.

It was then time for the "Tait and Benny Show"

We travelled far and wide to ensure we had a team.

On Saturday the club had more player unavailable from it player roster than were available.  Credit must go to our four hard working captains, who up until game time were hitting the phones ensuring their team had enough players to take the field.

In the main match City's 1st Grade took a under strength but enthusiastic team onto the field against Souths.
City United were dismissed for 115, Captain Simon Toyer (52) and Ben Semmler (8) dug in and steadied things for City with a 49-run stand.
It was then time for the "Tait and Benny Show"
“Tait, that spell is the best I’ve seen him bowl,” Toyer said.“And Benny backed him up.”
They bowled the first 16 between them for only 30 runs with Jordan nabbing 2-7 and Semmler 1-17 (he finished 1-37).
After slumping to 4-38 Osborne and Hammond looked like they could take Souths through to stumps but then with about five overs to go Hammond was adjudged lbw trying to sweep Peter Mead.
Parkinson was then out lbw to Mead (2-9) in the second last over.
“In saying that I thought City bowled well.” the South's Captain, Leyden said.
“They’ll have Jack (McVey) back next week as well.” Leyden said.

How’s that? On Saturday City United wrapped up it’s 2 day matches against Old Boys and were victorious in two matches. In doing so, both 1^st Grade and 4^th Grade beat the defending premiers for their grades. A stellar performance from the players involved. 

In today’s local paper our own Richie O’Halloran and City’s newest all-rounder superstar Jack McVey spoke to the NDL reporter after the match.
Richie called the win as “the upset of the season.” Richie went on “ Bowling the premiers out for 104 is a great effort. It proves that we can do it and that we can be threat this season”.
Jack had to wait a while before Richie took a breath but added. “We have a real strong bowling outfit this season” Jack said. “If everyone can stay fit we are a decent chance. We have set a goal this season of making the finals and I think we can do it”

 Our juggernaut  4^th Grade team with their win on Saturday now leads the competition, Robbie Gregg captain of the team of parents and sons scored a century which helped the team to victory.

Simon Toyer is looking forward to his two big matches this weelend.

City has two players selected for Senior Central North Zone side when it plays its Country Championship in Ballina from Friday, November 21.

City’s opening bat Ryan Hansen who starred for the CNZ Under 19s in their Country Championship win at Coffs Harbour and City’s & Tamworth’s young paceman Jack McVey will spearheads the bowling attack.  

 On Sunday the Tamworth Blue side has the potential and leadership to win the Country Shield in front of a home crowd this year.

The side is brimming with talent and has a date with Gunnedah at No 1 Oval on Sunday in the third round.
Throw in City's captain Simon Toyer and seasoned opening bowler Ben Semmler, as well as in the inform all-rounder Richie O’Halloran
If the side can beat Gunnedah it will be one more win away from a home semi after Christmas, with Tamworth to host the finals.
The 50-over match will start at 10am at Number No1 oval.

On summer holiday's

Our Club’s treasurer is taking her family on a three weeks cruise. While Kathy is away Mark “Pup” Fisher is in charge of the club’s finances.
I know he is very keen to collect as many fees as possible in Kathy’s absence. So please see Mark to hand over your cash and he will fix you up with a receipt or your captain will also collect any money on Saturday. Fees can also be automatically place in City’s bank account.

I know the Paul Lawrence is looking forward to the Cruise. I can just imagine the stories that will be told by Kathy on their return.

 Paul was aboard their cruise ship, he was not impressed by the lively jazz band basting their horns in the restaurant of the ship. When his waiter comes around, Paul asks, “Will they play anything I ask?”

“Of course, they will sir!” replies the waiter.
Paul was quick to reply “Then tell them to go play shuffleboard, on the top deck then!”

 One one starlit night Paul was on the top deck with his family aboard the cruise ship where everyone was having a great party, when a beautiful young girl fell overboard. Immediately there was our own Paul in the water to her rescue. They were both pulled from the freezing, treacherous waters. The captain was grateful as well as astonished that the older man performed such an act of bravery. And that night a luxurious banquet was given in honour of the cruise elderly hero. The captain called Paul forward to receive an award and was asked to say a few words.

He said, “First of all, I’d like to know which one of my family pushed me!!!!!!!!”
